After both having extra time off, the Centennial Eagles and Marriotts Ridge will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Centennial suffered their biggest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They took a serious blow against Hammond, falling 52-18. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Hammond is ranked 23rd).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Marriotts Ridge, who are still winless after their 11th contest. They took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Long Reach two weeks ago.
Centennial dropped their record down to 5-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Marriotts Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Centennial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Marriotts Ridge in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 32-28 victory.
