East Webster is 9-1 against French Camp Academy since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolverines will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Monday, East Webster needed a bit of extra time to put away Kosciusko. They had just enough and edged out the Whippets 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
Jace Yates tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Stetson Perkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, French Camp Academy came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since February 14th.
Andrew Bain and Vitaly Ferguson did most of the damage at the plate: Bain went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run, while Ferguson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave Bain a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Wright, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
French Camp Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.
French Camp Academy pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for East Webster, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
Everything went East Webster's way against French Camp Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as East Webster made off with a 15-6 victory. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
