Tabiona is 3-0 against Tintic since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tabiona Tigers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Tintic Miners at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Tabiona's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
Tabiona can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They breezed by Altamont on the road to the tune of 77-29. That looming 77-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Tabiona yet this season.
Tabiona can attribute much of their success to Logan Rhoades, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Gavin Rhoades, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rhoades scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lex Giles, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Tintic pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 78-55 loss to Manila might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Tintic has suffered since November 20, 2023.
Despite their loss, Tintic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cole Ward, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Hagen Barton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Tabiona's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Tintic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Tabiona hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 65.5 points per game. It's a different story for Tintic, though, as they've been averaging only 59.8 points per game. The only thing between Tabiona and another offensive beatdown is Tintic. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Tabiona took their win against Tintic in their previous meeting back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 64-38. Will Tabiona repeat their success, or does Tintic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
