The Cox Falcons will face off against the First Colonial Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Cox's victory against Bayside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons won by a set and slipped past the Marlins 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Cox got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for First Colonial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Ocean Lakes on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since September 28, 2024.
First Colonial had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-12.
Cox's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for First Colonial, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Cox took their victory against First Colonial in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
