Alvirne and Salem are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Broncos will welcome the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alvirne will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Alvirne turned things around against Nashua North on Monday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Broncos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brody Buja made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Gavin Baviello looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Alvirne: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 1-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Alvirne let Alex Drown and Jasper Workman run wild. Drown went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Workman went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those runs were Workman's first of the season. Luke Norse was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Alvirne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Salem's offense. They lost 12-0 to Bishop Guertin on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Salem's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Alvirne, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-7.
Alvirne might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Salem when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
