Upper Perkiomen and Pope John Paul II are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Indians will be playing at home against Pope John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Upper Perkiomen sitting on seven straight wins and Pope John Paul II on four.
Upper Perkiomen proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Upper Merion Area 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Vikings since April 6, 2024.
Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II got the win against Hill School on Saturday by a conclusive 15-2. Considering Pope John Paul II has won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Tindall was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Kayden Witter was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Pope John Paul II kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hill School only managed three.
Pope John Paul II's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Upper Perkiomen, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Upper Perkiomen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pope John Paul II struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Upper Perkiomen skirted past Pope John Paul II 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do Pope John Paul II have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
