North Star is 8-2 against Rockwood since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. North Star has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Rockwood will come in with six straight wins.
Windber hit North Star with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ramblers.
North Star saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Meyers, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Nate Orris was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rockwood's hitters rose to the challenge against a Vikings pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.5 runs allowed on Friday. The Rockets put the hurt on Blacklick Valley with a sharp 10-3 victory.
Nathan Show made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Show was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Carson Brown was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Davis Bruening, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Rockwood pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Star, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
