Basketball Recap: West Point Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

West Point came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 win over the Eastmark Firebirds. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Firebirds are ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Point found their leader in freshman Dewey Henry, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mijahi Baldwin, who posted eight points.

Eastmark lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Justin Humphrey, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. Dylan Gesner was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

West Point's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Eastmark, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

West Point wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-32 win against Desert Ridge on the 10th. As for Eastmark, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-41 loss against Casteel on the 13th.
