St. John the Baptist is 2-8 against St. Anthony since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St. John the Baptist Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the St. Anthony's Friars at 7:30 p.m.
Back in December of 2023, St. John the Baptist came up short against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and fell 58-51.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony's waltzed into their matchup on Sunday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Portledge by a score of 68-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
St. Anthony's found their leader in underclassman Kevin Moore, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Moore pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Mannix, who scored 17 points.
St. John the Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for St. Anthony's, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for St. John the Baptist, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-51 loss to St. Anthony's when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can St. John the Baptist avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
