The Millard West Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Lincoln Southwest by a score of 57-55. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Millard West in their matchups with Lincoln Southwest: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Millard West had strong showings from Cooper Fortune, who scored 21 points, and Jordan Gassen, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fortune has scored all season.
Millard West's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lincoln Southwest, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millard West will take on Omaha Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Omaha Westside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will head out on the road to take on Lincoln East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Lincoln Southwest likes a good challenge.
