Kelly dropped their record down to 6-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the ACERO Garcia Patriots, falling 12-6. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 19-0.
Alfredo Socorro was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with six stolen bases and three runs. Socorro is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Arturo Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
As for ACERO Garcia, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.4 runs.
Like Kelly, ACERO Garcia also got a great game from a two-way player: Isaac Mota. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Mota was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Zachary Amedio was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two triples, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that he has hit this season. Sebastian Villegas was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kelly will venture away from home to face off against Juarez at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for ACERO Garcia, they are taking a road trip to challenge Dunbar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Mightymen at the right time seeing as the Mightymen are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
