The Williamsburg Blue Pirates's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Penns Manor Comets at 7:15 p.m. on December 18th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
Last Wednesday, Williamsburg lost to West Branch on the road by a decisive 97-81 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (65), Williamsburg still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Penns Manor had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Homer-Center by a score of 69-59 on Friday. Penns Manor's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Penns Manor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Smith out in front who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The contest was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Polenik, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Williamsburg's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1. As for Penns Manor, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Williamsburg strolled past Penns Manor in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 69-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
