Two dominant guards in Kinsey Cave and Shamaya Lynch are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The East Duplin Panthers will be playing at home against the North Lenoir Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Duplin will be strutting in after a win while the Hawks will be coming in after a loss.
East Duplin can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They breezed by Heide Trask at home to the tune of 53-20. 53 seems to be a good number for East Duplin as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
East Duplin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sallie Hatcher, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Hatcher continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Noble, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, North Lenoir ended up a good deal behind the Stallions on Tuesday and lost 54-37. While losing is never fun, North Lenoir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Stallions are ranked 34th).
The victory was the third in a row for East Duplin, bringing their record for this year to 17-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.7 points. As for North Lenoir, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for East Duplin against the Hawks in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 56-28 win. Does East Duplin have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
