There's no place like home for the Horizon Hawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Erie by a score of 57-48 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Horizon also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Horizon had a senior duo take command as Alex Mccollum dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and Brady Greene scored ten points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mccollum has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Greene, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Erie saw an underclassman step up: Christopher Smith scored 16 points along with two steals. Brayden Haan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Erie, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will take on Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brighton is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Erie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cheyenne Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. Cheyenne Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
