St. Anthony has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mulberry Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. St. Anthony will venture away from home to square off against Mulberry Grove at 10:00 a.m. St. Anthony has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
While St. Anthony's victory against Richland County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. St. Anthony skirted past Richland County 12-11. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
The team relied heavily on Julia Schultz, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Rios, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
St. Anthony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richland County only posted a batting average of .258.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Mulberry Grove made sure to put some runs up on the board against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval on Friday. Mulberry Grove put the hurt on Odin/Patoka/Sandoval with a sharp 15-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aces.
Lily Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Jenni Mezo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Lola Johnson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
St. Anthony moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Mulberry Grove, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. Anthony came out on top in a nail-biter against Mulberry Grove in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Anthony since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
