Geraldine extended their postseason success on Saturday against Collinsville. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Shyla Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Callie Bearden was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sophie Bearden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
