The Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They had just enough and edged St. Bernard's Central Catholic out 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Derrick Twum continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 0 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Innovation Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ogbeide, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and six assists.
The victory got Innovation Academy back to even at 3-3. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Innovation Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northeast Metro RVT at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Chris Zullo and Bryce Kankam. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame Cristo Rey at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
