The Conner Cougars will challenge the St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Conner was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Beechwood on Thursday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 16-0 shutout. The Cougars have beaten the Tigers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Ellie Ortiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Conner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, St. Ursula Academy entered their tilt with Cooper on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Jaguars.
Like Conner, St. Ursula Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: O Basil. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Basil was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, A Bunner was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Another player making a difference was V Oberkorn, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Conner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like St. Ursula Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
