The Otto-Eldred Terrors will head out on the road to face off against the Coudersport Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Otto-Eldred is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Otto-Eldred is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Port Allegany, falling 10-4.
Otto-Eldred saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manning Splain, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Jared Obenrader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Coudersport gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Johnsonburg. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Mitchell Taylor was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Lawson Wetzel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Roessner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coudersport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Otto-Eldred now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Coudersport, their record now sits at 10-4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Otto-Eldred has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coudersport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Otto-Eldred might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Coudersport in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Terrors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
