Shasta Cascade recap October 22, 2013
Fall River scaled the state rankings by moving to 711 from 768 this week, the biggest jump in Shasta Cascade. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Etna 32-0.
Weed took down Modoc 62-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Rashaan Broomfield ran for 291 yards and caught 1 pass for 11 yards during the win.
Jace Neugebauer threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 6-10 with 1 interception.
Broomfield was a force in the backfield as the Cougars defeated the Braves.
Broomfield was a passing and rushing force as Weed beat Modoc. Broomfield's key target this week was Edgar Casorla, who caught 6 passes for 74 yards.
Michael Westlund was the best wideout in the league this week as Fall River bested the Lions. Westlund tallied 2 receptions for 91 yards. Jonathon Westlund helped Fall River's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 79 yards.
Rick Neugebauer's team's Neugebauer and Tanner Gallion led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-8 quarterback Neugebauer has thrown for 910 yards this season, while Gallion has 15 catches for 403 yards. Byron Mathes' team's Broomfield leads the league in rushing yards with 1,143.
An important game coming up in Shasta Cascade this week will be when Etna takes on Burney. At the moment, Wade Dickinson's team is in second, while the Raiders are in fifth.
The Bulldogs made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,203 from 10,920. The improvement was largely due to a 32-0 victory over the Lions last week.
