Given St. James Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Blue Valley West is ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Reese Messer, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Riley Kerwin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
St. James Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Blue Valley West, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3.
St. James Academy will face off against Saint Thomas Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Thomas Aquinas has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three games. As for Blue Valley West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blue Valley Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
