Football Game Preview: Robinson Knights vs. Countryside Cougars

The Robinson Knights will square off against the Countryside Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Robinson's defense has only allowed 7.2 points per game this season, so Countryside's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Robinson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Hillsborough a 53-0 shutout. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Haidyn Spano was her usual excellent self, throwing for 206 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.8% of her passes, and also rushing for 32 yards. She is becoming a predictor of Robinson's success: when she posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Izzy Harris was in the mix too, providing the Knights with four scores.

Robinson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jala Hymes. Sarah Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Countryside fell victim to Gulf and their airtight defense on Thursday. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Countryside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Genessis Godinez-Gomez, Torrecia Marshall, and Nyarai Wilson picked up one apiece.

The win made it two in a row for Robinson and bumps their season record up to 14-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Countryside, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
