South View is 2-8 against Terry Sanford since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The South View Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Terry Sanford Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in South View's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
Last Wednesday, South View came up short against Seventy-First and fell 68-57.
Despite their defeat, South View saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jalen Mills, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Yabniel Cheveres, who posted 15 points.
Even though they lost, South View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Terry Sanford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 82-63 win over Pine Forest on Thursday. That looming 82-63 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
Terry Sanford's win came from a few key players South View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Ravenell, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Walker, who put up 17 points along with five assists and five boards.
The victory got Terry Sanford back to even at 3-3. As for South View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. South View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66 points per game. However, it's not like Terry Sanford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
South View was able to grind out a solid win over Terry Sanford in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 59-46. Will South View repeat their success, or does Terry Sanford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
