After a string of five wins, the Boquet Valley Griffins's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Schroon Lake. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Boquet Valley came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Wildcats are ranked 644th).
Boquet Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Hooper, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Carson Leibeck was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Boquet Valley's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Schroon Lake, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Willsboro Central the next time they take the court. Schroon Lake will host Willsboro Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Boquet Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
