Platte Canyon is 9-1 against KIPP Denver Collegiate since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Platte Canyon Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Platte Canyon lost to Middle Park on the road by a decisive 39-21 margin.
Despite the defeat, Platte Canyon had strong showings from Sydney Curtis, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Ily Hardey, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 47.6% of Platte Canyon's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caylie Lewis was another key contributor, scoring no points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Platte Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, KIPP Denver Collegiate's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 55-29 loss at the hands of Arvada. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly KIPP Denver Collegiate struggled afterwards.
Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Platte Canyon beat KIPP Denver Collegiate 33-21 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Platte Canyon repeat their success, or does KIPP Denver Collegiate have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
