The Durant Lions pushed their score all the way to 74 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to Coweta. Durant lost against Coweta in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 79-54 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coweta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cade Ellison, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Owen Mcelroy, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Durant has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Coweta, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.
Durant the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Sapulpa at 8:00 p.m. on January 30th. Sapulpa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Durant in Oklahoma (Sapulpa is ranked 139th, while Durant is ranked 329th). Coweta's road trip will continue as they head out to face Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Memorial is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.3 points per game.
