Even though the St. Philip Catholic Central Fighting Tigers have not done well against the Colon Magi recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. St. Philip Catholic Central strolled past Colon with points to spare, taking the game 57-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Philip Catholic Central.
Several Magi players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maverick Downs, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dalton Williams, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five steals.
St. Philip Catholic Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Colon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Philip Catholic Central will square off against Bellevue at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Colon, they will head out on the road to face off against Burr Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
