Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Walnut Springs Hornets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 60-14 defeat at the hands of Oglesby on Friday. While losing is never fun, Walnut Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Oglesby is ranked 15th).
Kyler Fossett went supernova for Oglesby, rushing for 252 yards and five touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 50 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Fossett was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Ej Aviles, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Walnut Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Oglesby, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Walnut Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Oglesby will face off against Oakwood at TBD on Friday. Oakwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
