The Harlingen Cardinals entered their tilt with the San Benito Greyhounds with 19 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 20. Harlingen put the hurt on San Benito with a sharp 64-42 win on Friday. Harlingen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.
Harlingen was led to victory by Ashton Barajas and Luis Rodriguez. Barajas scored 13 points, while Rodriguez scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Gonzalez, who scored nine points.
Harlingen pushed their record up to 25-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for San Benito, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Harlingen will head out on the road to challenge Rivera at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rivera will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 557th, while Harlingen is ranked 147th). As for San Benito, they will be playing at home against Weslaco at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
