The Edison Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 86-44 loss at the hands of Margaretta. While losing is never fun, Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 691st, while Margaretta is ranked 59th).
Edison's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davin Wendt, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Luke Blatnik, who scored eight points.
Edison's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Margaretta, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edison will face off against Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gibsonburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Margaretta won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on January 13th.
