Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Wynn Stang of
Mukwonago is the 2022 MaxPreps Wisconsin High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior running back helped the Indians go 12-2 and reach the Division I state championship game.
For the season, Stang rushed for 2,762 yards (8.4 yards per carry) and 42 touchdowns without a fumble. In four postseason wins, he rushed for 847 yards and 13 scores.

Also a standout in lacrosse, Stang led all midfielders in Wisconsin by scoring 55 goals as a junior and earned Under Armour All-American honors.
