The Salem Baptist Christian Vikings will square off against the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Salem Baptist Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Sheets Memorial Christian by a score of 14-9. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Andrew Baker made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Baker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Salem Baptist Christian got a massive performance out of Brandon Lloyd, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lloyd has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Graeson Reid, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Thomas More Academy). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Friendship Christian on Friday, sneaking past 21-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chancellors.
Gavin Sandner was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Drew Sandner was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
St. Thomas More Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .620. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Salem Baptist Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for St. Thomas More Academy, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salem Baptist Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Thomas More Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
