The Potomac Wolverines on the road again on Friday and play against the Fairmont Heights Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Potomac comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Potomac, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-15 loss to Crossland.
Fairmont Heights suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-13 loss at the hands of Gwynn Park. While losing is never fun, Fairmont Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Gwynn Park is ranked 55th).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fairmont Heights struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gwynn Park racked up 24 assists.
Potomac's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Fairmont Heights, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.
Potomac beat Fairmont Heights 47-39 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Potomac since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
