The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Notre Dame Bulldogs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 57-50 to the Bulldogs. Saxony Lutheran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Notre Dame apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Saxony Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Eggemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Eggemeyer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hartmann, who scored 17 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Saxony Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Notre Dame, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.
Saxony Lutheran will challenge Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Delta will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Notre Dame will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dexter at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
