While losing is never fun, Washington-Wilkes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 473rd in Georgia, while Abbeville is ranked 59th in South Carolina).
Abbeville found their leader in underclassman Justin Rollinson, who scored 26 points along with three steals. The match was Rollinson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Damarcus Leach was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 14 rebounds.
Washington-Wilkes has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Abbeville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington-Wilkes will take on Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Abbeville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westside at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
