Basketball Game Preview: Meadowbrook Colts vs. West Holmes Knights

The Meadowbrook Colts will head out on the road to square off against the West Holmes Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Holmes took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Meadowbrook, who comes in off a win.

Meadowbrook took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They snuck past Zanesville with a 57-51 win. The Colts' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meadowbrook's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jacob Burris, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 16 points, and Bentley Sedor, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 16 points gave Burris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Warner, who posted eight points.

Meadowbrook was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, West Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Wooster, falling 68-34. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 683rd, while the Generals are ranked 115th).

West Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Meadowbrook, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Meadowbrook suffered a grim 68-44 defeat to West Holmes in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Meadowbrook, Collier Cline (who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
