On Friday, Maria Carrillo are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Benicia at 5:00 PM. If the 0-7 final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.
Maria Carrillo couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-48 to Redwood.
Meanwhile, Benicia took care of business in their home opener. Everything went their way against Pinole Valley last Friday as they made off with a 31-0 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-0.
Benicia's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Maria Carrillo's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Benicia can add another positive mark to their record or if Maria Carrillo can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Benicia's step.
