The Mount Tabor Spartans and the Butler Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Mount Tabor Spartans had to settle for second. Mount Tabor was outmatched by Butler on the road and fell 49-13. Mount Tabor's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Mount Tabor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shamarius Peterkin. Despite the final result, he picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jadon Blair got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Butler got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Williams out in front who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Williams hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Dequadre Currence, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mount Tabor's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Butler, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Mount Tabor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Butler's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Independence at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Independence is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
