The Beachwood Bison will be playing in front of their home fans against the Brooklyn Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Beachwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Beachwood had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 46-40 W over Fairview. The victory was just what Beachwood needed coming off of a 46-14 defeat in their prior match.
Beachwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexi Jaffe, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Jaffe has scored at least 25% of Beachwood's points. Another player making a difference was Goldi Aschkenasy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn was beaten by Trinity 46-6 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Brooklyn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Trinity is ranked 280th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashlyn Dyson, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds. She scored a full 66.7% of Brooklyn's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Beachwood's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Brooklyn, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Beachwood have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brooklyn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
Beachwood took their win against Brooklyn when the teams last played back in February of 2018 by a conclusive 47-23. Will Beachwood repeat their success, or does Brooklyn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
