4A Wesco - South recap October 22, 2013
Joseph Binda of Kamiak ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Wesco - South this season against Mariner last week. Binda's team topped the Marauders as he sprinted for 88 yards on the play and finished with 217 in all.
Edmonds-Woodway added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lynnwood, 35-7. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Warriors.
Binda was a force in the backfield as Kamiak defeated Mariner.
Binda was a passing and rushing force as Daniel Mack's team defeated John Ondriezek's team. Binda's key target this week was Henderson Belk, who caught 3 passes for 44 yards.
Davis Giles put up the best numbers through the air as Edmonds-Woodway bested the Royals. He finished with a total of 6 completions for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns. Giles' favorite target this week was Jason Smarr, who caught 2 passes for 66 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Giles and Junior Opoku-Mensah, John Gradwohl's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Giles is tops in the league in passing with 1,007 yards, while Opoku-Mensah has rushed for 989 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Knights' Belk, with 343 yards on 18 catches.
Opoku-Mensah of the the Warriors is only 11 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 160 carries Opoku-Mensah has accumulated 989 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cascade takes on Kamiak. The Bruins are currently in second, while the Knights are in third.
Jackson fell to Cascade 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
