Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Vanguard School). They claimed a resounding 110-41 win over the James Irwin Jaguars. The Coursers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.
The Vanguard School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matty Dessalegn out in front who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Dessalegn is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 19 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Bustamante, who posted 26 points.
Despite the defeat, James Irwin had strong showings from Jace Remo, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points, and Jonathan Kimble, who earned nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Remo continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Dachawne Johnson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
The Vanguard School pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44 points. As for James Irwin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
