The Dexter Dreadnaughts were the 69-30 winner over the Jackson Vikings when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Dexter opened the new year with a less-than-successful 61-54 defeat to Jackson. While losing is never fun, Dexter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Jackson is ranked 101st).
Jackson was led to victory by Darrion Weller and Sherquan Wilson. Weller scored 16 points, while Wilson scored 18 points. Wilson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Koronnis Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Dexter bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Jackson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Dexter will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Woodward at 2:00 p.m. As for Jackson, they will face off against Oak Park at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Park is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
