Boulder Creek is 0-5 against Queen Creek since March of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Boulder Creek 3.9, Queen Creek 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
It was a proper cat-fight when Boulder Creek duked it out with Liberty on Tuesday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8.
Lauren Grunert stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Bailey Kerr, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Queen Creek came tearing into Thursday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Alexis Mendez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Queen Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayla Falquez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Queen Creek's victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Boulder Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.
Both Boulder Creek and Queen Creek just can't seem to miss. The Jaguars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Queen Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
