After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Atchison, Sumner Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Washington Wildcats 20-5. Kenadi Frye made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Frye was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Julia Meyer was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miah Trowbridge, who went 3-for-4 with five runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Sumner Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only managed ten.
