The Jefferson County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 43-34 to South Pike. While losing is never fun, Jefferson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while South Pike is ranked 106th).
South Pike can attribute much of their success to Alaysha Williams, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Makayla Robertson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Jefferson County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for South Pike, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Franklin County the next time they take the court. South Pike will head out to face Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Jefferson County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
