The Neuse Charter Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Vance Charter Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Neuse Charter is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Neuse Charter's 26-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to East Wake Academy at home by a decisive 58-42 margin on Friday. The game was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Neuse Charter was blown out by East Wake Academy in the second.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Donolyjah Tyrell, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Jayson James was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Falls Lake scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Vance Charter still came out on top. Vance Charter had just enough and edged Falls Lake out 62-59. The victory was just what Vance Charter needed coming off of a 75-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
North Lenoir's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Neuse Charter's defeat dropped theirs to 2-6.
Neuse Charter strolled past Vance Charter when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 75-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Neuse Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
