Portales extended their losing streak  to six  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They fell  4-1 to the Goddard Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  4-2  on Thursday.
 Amaya Lujan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
 On the hitting side, Portales saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Annaleah Lujan, who  went 2-for-4 with one  double.
As for Goddard, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  on the road. Four seems to be a good number for they as the  team scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
On Goddard's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Vivianna Morales gave up a  run (which was  unearned)  on ten hits. Morales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  Roxanna Serrano was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with two  doubles, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  doubles  she has posted since back in March of 2024.  Marisol Hernandez was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with three  runs.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Portales will  challenge  rival Artesia  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Goddard is set to  take on  their familiar foe Lovington  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
