Fairfield and Flora pushed the score to 13-10 the last time they played Flora, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Mules fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-1. The Mules' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tallen Hixenbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Flora, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season.

While Fairfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
