It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Cassadaga Valley Cougars ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They snuck past Clymer Central with a 63-58 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Cassadaga Valley as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Clymer Central still got an impressive performance from Alexys Neckers, who scored 33 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That was a full 56.9% of Clymer Central's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Nyweide, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
The victory got Cassadaga Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Clymer Central, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassadaga Valley will square off against Gowanda at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Clymer Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Chautauqua Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chautauqua Lake comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
