Cocke County is a perfect 10-0 against Seymour since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cocke County Fighting Cocks will take on the Seymour Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Cocke County knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Seymour likes a good challenge.
Cocke County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Grainger on Monday as Cocke County made off with a 19-7 win. Fans of the Fighting Cocks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Ellie Proffitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Proffitt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cocke County got a massive performance out of Adisen Mcnealy, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Mcnealy has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Meredith Grooms, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Cocke County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Seymour might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Knoxville Central who claimed the real prize. Seymour fell 12-7 to Knoxville Central.
Landry Terry was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Ella Rainbolt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Seymour's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cocke County, their record now sits at 6-0.
Seymour's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cocke County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Seymour, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Cocke County's sizable advantage in that area, Seymour will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cocke County took their victory against Seymour in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. Will Cocke County repeat their success, or does Seymour have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
